Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Martín del Campo is a major exponent of "Realismo Fantastico" (Magic Realism). He first had contact with the art world at the age of 8 when he took up drawing as a favorite pastime. He first attended the Escuela de Arte de Aguazul and by his 14th birthday moved to Mexico to study in the Casa del Lago. In 1965 he enrolled at the prestigious Academia de San Carlos. There he perfected his skills in painting, sculpture and print making. His influence comes from the great Masters el Bosco and Leonardo as well as contemporary artists like Jose Luis Cuevas and Rafael Coronel. Martin Del Campo has held numerous exhibitions in Mexico and abroad.
